pectacular Views
The Ice Age glaciers that carved out the Great Lakes also created the rolling, hilly topography of Metamora Township...including Mount Christie at 1,300 feet, one of the highest spots in Southeastern Michigan! The "mountain" was once the site of a winter ski resort, popular with skiers from throughout the Metro Detroit area. Ron Lamparter, who purchased the land more than 20 years ago and is now guiding its development, says the view from the top of Mount Christie, which now features a picnic area and observation gazebo, makes you feel like you are in northern Michigan...or even Colorado! “You can see for something close to 50 miles,” says Lamparter. “This is a very unusual piece of land. There are, 150-year-old oak trees three feet in diameter, deep ravines strewn with boulders, old apple trees, and stone fence rows that probably date back to the late 1800's or early 1900's.” |
